Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Ziplines, Inc. (“Ziplines Education,” “us,” “our,” or “we”) collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use or access our website(s), application(s), and any related products, programs, courses, learning assessment tools, or services that we offer (collectively, “Services”).  This Privacy Policy also describes how we share certain information with third parties and what you can do to control the use, collection, and sharing of your personal information.  This Privacy Policy applies to all use or access of our Services and all information provided to us (whether by phone, email, or through the use of and registration for our Services), but does not apply to third parties’ sites or services that may be linked to or otherwise available through our Services.  By using our Services and providing information to us (including personally identifiable information), you are agreeing to this Privacy Policy in its entirety and to our End User Agreement, available here. Note about Children: Our Services are not intended for, marketed to, or available to individuals younger than the age of 13, and individuals younger than the age of 13 should not submit personal information to us or use any Service.

1. Information Ziplines Education Collects
Profile and Other Personal Information
When you submit information to Ziplines Education through our Services or otherwise correspond with us, Ziplines Education receives and stores information about you, including personal information.  Personal information includes any information that could reasonably be used to personally identify you, including without limitation: your name, email address, shipping or billing address, social media account information, phone number, date of birth, location, payment or credit card information (if you purchase products or services from us), and all information contained in your User Generated Content (as defined below).  You may provide such information to us when applying, registering, or enrolling in courses or programs offered through our Services when you communicate with us or others via our Services, when you create a user account, or at other times when you are using or interacting with our Services.

Registration or Enrollment Information
If your use of our Services includes participation in our online courses or programs, you may also be asked to authenticate your identity and submissions, verify your compliance with proctoring or examination rules, and otherwise confirm your identity.  Such verifications may include requiring your signature, requiring webcam photo or video tools to identify and monitor compliance with applicable examination rules, and verification of your personally identifiable information such as your name, email address, user account, identification card, or state-issued ID.  Ziplines Education may also collect and store information about your performance and any related assessments submitted in connection with your use of our Services.  We may also use third-party service providers to conduct the verifications and such third parties may collect and store information about you.

Geo-Location and Social Media Platforms
Through our mobile application, we may collect information regarding your geo-location.  You may disable the geo-location function for our mobile application or delete our mobile application altogether through your device settings.  If you have questions about your device, please contact the manufacturer directly.  If you consent to our use of your geo-location, your device will transmit your location information to us while the application is running and may be used to provide you with information about nearby users, services, or events.  If you use our single-sign-on functionality or use any social media platforms in connection with our Services (or any similar mechanism), we may collect personal information that you make available to us through those social media platforms, including, without limitation, your personally identifiable profile and account information.  Please remember that the privacy policies and practices and terms of service of third parties govern your use of their products and services.

Automatically Collected Information
We may employ clear gifs (also known as web beacons), which are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track the online usage patterns of our users.  We may also use clear gifs in HTML-based emails sent to our users to track which emails are opened and which links are clicked by recipients.  This information allows for more accurate reporting and improvement of our Services.

When you visit our website or otherwise use our Services, we also automatically receive and record certain information that your web browser or mobile device provides, such as your web request, IP address, browser type, browser language, referring/exit pages and URLs, date and time of visit, amount of time spent on particular pages, which parts of our Services you use, platform type, domain names, type of device and operating system, pages, and information about your usage and interaction with our Services.  In addition, Ziplines Education may use “cookies” (session ID or persistent) or similar technologies to record session identification such as browser type, pages, and information about your use and interaction with our Services.  Cookies can be turned off via your browser settings if you so choose; however, please note that if you disable cookies, you may not be able to use all of our Services’ features.

Cookies and gifs are not used to store or collect personally identifiable information.  The use of cookies by our partners, affiliates, tracking utility company, and/or service providers is not covered by our Privacy Policy.  We do not have access or control over those cookies.

2. How Ziplines Education Uses Your Personal Information
We use personally identifiable information to administer our Services and to track your progress and completion of programs and courses, including, without limitation, examinations, assignments, assessments, proctoring, interviews, communication, and academic achievements.  Use of our Services may be offered through a company, employer, college, or university that we work with, and in that circumstance, we may share all of your information with any such third party.  We also use the information we collect to allow you to use our Services, to allow you to link our Services to your social media accounts, to allow you to connect with us through social media platforms, to contact you, to allow you to interact with our Services, our instructors and staff, and other users, to improve the content or functionality of our Services, to provide you with information you specifically request, to provide product support, updates, to contact you regarding new products, services, third-party offers, or upcoming events, and to comply with legal requirements.

Your personally identifiable information may also be used to fulfill any order, purchase, or request and may be provided to our third-party processor for payment. Your billing information may be archived by us or our third-party processor.

The non-identifying information that we collect may be used to improve our Services by providing us with information about the number of users, and the types of technology used, and to detect any problems with how our Services work.  Also, if you enable push notifications from our mobile applications, we may store information about your mobile device in order to send you notifications from our Services.  You can disable push notifications for the application from your device’s settings.

Except as provided in this Privacy Policy, we do not sell, rent, swap, or authorize any third party to use your email address or other personal information without your permission.  With your consent and in compliance with applicable laws, however, we may share personal information with third parties.  We also engage third-party service providers within our Services and we may share information with those third-party service providers.  The information we receive from such service providers is subject to this Privacy Policy.

Information you provide to third-party service providers is subject to the specific service providers’ privacy policies and practices.  We encourage you to familiarize yourself with any third-party provider’s practices and policies before using their products or services.  We may also share non-personally identifiable information (or de-identified information) in bulk with advertising, marketing, or other business relations, if any, for analysis of our Services.  We may use this anonymous and aggregated analytics information for a variety of reasons, such as creating reports on usage trends and efficiency metrics.

We will disclose your personal information when we are required to do so by law or if we believe in good faith that such disclosures are required to: (1) comply with the law or with legal process including in response to a subpoena or court order; (2) enforce any legal agreements between you and us, including without limitation, our End User Agreement and rules for your use of our Services; (3) protect your safety or security; (4) protect the safety or security of Ziplines Education, our Services, our property, or our employees; (5) protect the safety or security of any third party; (6) investigate alleged instances academic dishonesty. Any such disclosures may be carried out without your consent or without notice to you.  Among other things, this means that if you provide false information or attempt to pose as someone else, information about you may be disclosed as part of any investigation into your actions.

Ziplines Education may share your personal information with its parent, subsidiaries and affiliates, and investors primarily for business and operational purposes so long as any recipient agrees to comply with this Privacy Policy and applicable law with regard to such information. In the event that Ziplines Education goes through a business transition, such as a merger, acquisition by another company, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, bankruptcy, or other corporate change, including, without limitation, during the course of any due diligence process, your information, including personal information, will likely be among the assets transferred.  You will be notified via email and/or a prominent notice on Services of any completed change in ownership or uses of your personal information, as well as any choices you may have regarding your personal information.  This Privacy Policy will become binding upon the new owner of the information until amended. 

3. Changing, Correcting, or Updating Your Information
You can obtain access to the personal information we currently have on file for you and/or correct inaccuracies in such personal information by making a written request to Ziplines Education by mail or email to the addresses contained in the “Contact Us” section below.  Some of our Services may allow you to update your personal information through your user account. Our policy is to correct or remove inaccurate information as requested if we determine that we do not need to retain the information for legitimate business or legal purposes.  We also reserve the right but do not assume the responsibility, to verify whether the information is correct.  For your protection, you may be asked to provide additional information to verify your identity before being granted access to your personal information.

4. Children
Our Services are not directed to individuals under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under age 13.  If you are under age 13, you are not authorized to use or access our Services.  If we discover that we have received any personal information from a child under the age of 13, we will delete that information immediately.  If you believe we have any information from or about anyone under the age of 13, please contact us at support@ziplines.com.

5. Our Communication Policy
In compliance with applicable law, Ziplines Education will not send you marketing messages if you have opted out or unsubscribed.  We do not share, sell, rent, or authorize any third party to use your email address or telephone number for commercial purposes without your permission.

Ziplines Education reserves the right, however, to send you communications related to your account status and notifications about significant changes to this Privacy Policy or your use of our Services. We may also use your email address to respond to any email from you. Please be aware that if you send us an email, the information disclosed in your email may not be secure and that we may collect and archive any communications from you. We suggest that you exercise caution if sending personal or confidential information to us via email.  More information about our communication policy is contained in our End User Agreement available here.

6. Mobile Use
If you use the Services through a mobile device or one of our mobile applications, your mobile Device Identifier your mobile carrier, and your physical location may be transmitted to Ziplines Education.  You agree that Ziplines Education may store and use that information for security purposes (for example, for user verification or authentication and to ensure that our APIs are being used appropriately). If you wish to no longer allow Ziplines Education to track your physical locations you may turn this off within your device settings. You may be able to opt-in to receiving text messages from Ziplines Education.  You may always opt-out by replying “STOP” to one of the text messages received.  You also acknowledge and agree that use of the Services through a mobile device may cause data to be displayed on and through your mobile device which may be viewed by your mobile carrier or other access provider.

Push Notification: We will send you push notifications if you agree to receive them.  You may opt-out of receiving these at any time by going to the phone settings and turning them off.

7. Closing Your Account
If you wish to close your account with one of our Services, please send your request via email to info@ziplines.com and we will remove your Personal Information and Profile, if applicable, from the active databases for the Service(s) you request.  Please let us know which Service(s) you wish to close and send your request using an email account that you have registered with Ziplines Education under your name.  You typically will receive a response to a request sent to this account within five business days of our receiving it.  Requests to change your email preferences or unsubscribe from all emails may not be made through this email address, but rather must be submitted through one of the channels set out in the previous section.

Even if your account is closed, information may remain in backup or archive records and we may retain certain data relevant to preventing fraud or future abuse or for legitimate business purposes, such as analysis of aggregated, non-personally-identifiable or de-identified data, account recovery or if required by law.  All retained data will continue to be subject to the applicable privacy policy for the Service.

8. Testimonials
We may display personal testimonials of satisfied customers on our Services in addition to other endorsements. With your consent, we may post your testimonial along with your name. If you wish to update or delete your testimonial, you can contact us via email at hello@ziplines.com.

9. How Ziplines Education Protects Your Information
Ziplines Education takes data security very seriously.  We protect the security of your information through the use of commercially reasonable security measures.  Such measures vary depending on the sensitivity of the information at issue.  We also use TLS or SSL security when transmitting certain sensitive information.  Of course, no security system is perfect and we cannot guarantee that your information is absolutely safe or that information you transmit or that we maintain will not be intercepted or accessed.  In the event that we become aware of a data breach impacting your personal information, we will provide notification in compliance with applicable law.  If you have questions about the security measures we take, you can contact us via email at info@ziplines.com.

Also, we internally restrict access to your personal information to our employees, agents, subcontractors, and other personnel who have a legitimate interest in knowing that information to provide you the goods or services offered through our Services.  We do not share, rent, or lease your personal information to third parties without your consent.  Keep in mind, however, that our Services allow you to provide personal information directly to third parties.  This Privacy Policy does not govern the security of personal information that you provide to third parties.

10. Changes to this Policy
We may change or update any portion of this Privacy Policy at any time and such changes will be effective upon posting.  Upon any update the “Last Updated” date at the bottom of this policy will be updated.  The posting of the amended policy is your notice of that change.  Your continued use of the Services following an update to this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.  If you do not agree to the updated Privacy Policy, you must cease using or accessing the Services immediately.

11. Shine the Light
Under California Civil Code Sections 1798.83-.84, California residents are entitled to ask for a notice identifying the categories of personal customer information that we share with our affiliates and/or third parties for marketing purposes, and providing contact information for such affiliates and/or third parties.  If you are a current Ziplines Education customer and California resident and would like a copy of this notice, please submit a written request to: info@ziplines.com.  You must put the statement “Your California Privacy Rights” in the subject field of your e-mail or include it in your writing if you choose to write to us at the designated mailing address.  You must include your name, street address, city, state, and zip code.  We are not responsible for notices that are not labeled or sent properly or do not have complete information.

12. “Do-Not-Track” Signals
Please note that your browser setting may allow you to automatically transmit a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal to websites and online services you visit.  DNT is a privacy preference that users can set in certain web browsers to inform websites and services that they do not want certain information about their webpage visits collected over time and across websites or online services.  However, we do not recognize or respond to browser-initiated DNT signals, as the internet industry is still working to determine what DNT means, how to comply with DNT, and how to create a common approach to responding to DNT.
